I write now in reaction to last week’s mediation. And no, it’s not because the mediation failed - it happens. It is because I was so darned pleased with your handling of the matter as mediator and with Matrix Mediation overall. Surely you face interesting challenges each day, but your ability to “message” the realities of the matter to the three disparately focused lawyers in our group was extraordinary. Your understanding of the facts of our case and command of the law brought a much needed dimension to the mediation table. You will be our mediator of choice on a go forward basis. As for Matrix Mediation, it proved to be an inviting and comfortable environment and satisfying as well. Theodore -I have recently represented Mr. and Mrs. F, which was mediated at your firm. I was very impressed with Mr. Deckert's work. During the mediation he displayed a high level of subject matter expertise, was able to establish credibility as a knowledgeable and neutral mediator, and quickly found a way to connect with my clients. He just knew who to speak to, when to speak to them, what to say to them, and how much to allow them to say. There was a point when I did not think that the case would settle because the parties expectations were too far apart. Mr. Deckert however did not give up and took an active role. He contined the lines of communication between the parties and was able to effectively portray a realistic view of the merits of our claims and their defenses. I beleive it was a combination of his attentiveness, persistence, expertise, credibility as a nonjudgmental and impartial party, and the active role that he played that facilitated the resolution of this dispute. I have mediated with Mr. Deckert in the past and, while it is no surprise that each settlement involved a great deal of compromise on both sides, and this case was no exception, the results have always been fair and reasonable.
